After working as an Interior Designer and Art teacher, Chris Gray has spent the last 10 years concentrating on painting. She works mainly in soft pastel, exploring the rich and varied colour of this medium. Pastel is pure pigment, applied directly to the surface, allowing spontaneity, expression and endlessly varied mark making and colour adjustment. It enables Chris to exploit light and shade, which are so important to all her paintings....people, portrait, landscape, buildings or still life.

Chris is inspired by her local North Wales scenes and from her many trips around Europe in a campervan. Her paintings retain a recognisable image of the scene, but the important elements for her are composition and colour. Hopefully also, something of whatever caught her interest initially is conveyed.

Chris has exhibited her work in exhibitions at the Denbighshire Art Society, Rowen Art Group, Open exhibitions at the Royal Cambrian Academy in Conwy, Theatre Clwyd and the North Wales Tourist Board Llangollen.
